Indie January: A England She Walks In Beauty

It's the last day of Indie January!!  I'll have a round-up post later today, but for now I've got one last post featuring a beautiful polish, A England She Walks In Beauty

This polish is a clear base packed with micro gold, green, and pink shimmer as well as multiple sizes of rose pink glitter.  It can be built up to opacity by itself, but I chose to layer one coat over Butter London Teddy Girl for a cleaner look.

Application on this polish was absolutely perfect, and I've used one coat of Seche Vite for a smooth finish.

The polish reminded me so much of my Mirliton costume from The Nutcracker this year, with the glowing gold shimmer and pink glitter!  I honestly wasn't a fan of this when other bloggers' swatches started popping up or even when I saw it in the bottle, but I'm so glad I was proven wrong when I put it on!

A England polishes are available through Llarowe and the A England website, and you can keep up with the brand on Facebook.

I felt like I had a tricky job to do with this polish... I saw pictures from some amazing bloggers and still didn't like it until I got it on my own nails, so I'm curious, did you like my pictures of it or not?  Did I succeed in making you want this polish?  Have you been in a similar situation where you didn't like a polish until someone gave it to you, and then absolutely loved it when you put it on?  :)

Indie January: CrowsToes Gomez

Today's post is quite late... I'd like to say it's because I was busy this morning and honestly didn't have time, but in all honesty I was just procrastinating.  This posting everyday business is tiring, but tomorrow is the last day!

Today's polish is CrowsToes Gomez a mix of differently shaped blue, black, gunmetal and gold glitters in a clear base.  I've layered it over two different polishes, take a look!  :)

First (actually second, I just like this one better) I've layered Gomez over Butter London Big Smoke, and topped with two coats of Seche Vite for a smooth finish.

Being another super-packed glitterbomb, I applied Gomez how I described in this post.  This was my favourite of the two looks, it isn't as obvious in the photos but it was beautiful in person!!

The first combination I tried was Gomez over Candeo Colors Laman Brisa, I like the contrast between the base and glitter in this one but my mom told me it looked like barf so off it came.

I personally don't think this combination is too bad, but I much preferred the other one in person.

CrowsToes polish is currently in stock on Llarowe, and follow The Polished Crow's blog for updates.

Which combination is your favourite?  One more day of Indie January left, any requests as to what brand to show?  And would you like to see a recap of the month?  :)

Indie January: Candeo Colors Smores

I'm back from the dance convention; it was such an amazing weekend!  I was chosen as a Senior Outstanding Dancer Runner-Up, so I got invited to the national finals in New York!  I'm not sure if I'll be able to go yet, but I'd really love to!

Continuing on with Indie January, today's post features Candeo Colors Smores, a mix of small and medium brown hex, black squares, large white hex and small gold holo hex glitters in a clear base.

I layered one dabbed coat of Smores over Essie Little Brown Dress, and I love the result!  One coat of Seche Vite here, though I'd recommend two for a completely smooth finish.

This combination was super cute in person, it totally looked like smores, and it was super glittery!

Candeo Colors polishes are available through Llarowe and the Candeo Colors website; keep up to date on Facebook

There's only two days left on Indie January, and I'm itching to get back to posting nail art, I've got some awesome stuff piled up!  How do you like this polish?  My friend is convinced that it absolutely does not look like smores... Does it look like smores to you?  :)

Indie January: Emily De Molly Ego Friendly

**This is a scheduled post, as I'm out of town for a dance convention.  Where I can't wear nail polish.  Sad Emma. **

It's Day 28 of Indie January, and today's polish is Emily De Molly Ego Friendly, a light aqua crelly base sprinkled with aqua, teal, green, and lavender glitters in different shapes and sizes.

I've shows three coats of Ego Friendly alone; the formula quite easy to work with but wanted to pool at the edges slightly, so watch out for that.  One coat of Seche Vite for a smooth finish.

I really like the delicate look that the small glitters give this one.  It's light and spring-appropriate, very fitting for Easter I'd say!

Emily De Molly polishes are currently available through Llarowe, and her own website will be up and running soon!  As always, Facebook page

What do you think of this polish?  Also, how awesome is the name, Ego Friendly?  :P

Indie January: CrowsToes Triple Black Diamond

**This is a scheduled post, as I'm out of town for a dance convention.  Where I can't wear nail polish.  Sad Emma. **

Today is Day 27 of Indie January, and I've got another huge crushed lemming to show you today.  CrowsToes Triple Black Diamond is a mix of small black, aqua, purple, and blue glitters in a clear base.  I've wanted this polish ever since I saw The Swatchaholic's pictures of it, and it didn't disappoint!

I layered one medium coat of Triple Black Diamond over OPI Ink Suede.  The glitter is really packed in there as with the rest of my CrowsToes polishes, so application required some extra care.  Now take a guess at how many coats of Seche Vite are one there....

Four stinking coats and it STILL WASN'T SMOOTH.  It dried to the texture of sandpaper.  This polish is like Winnie the Pooh with honey.  Like those piranha plants in Super Mario Bros that just keep eating everything.  Like the honey badger who just takes what it wants.  It doesn't give a sh*t.  It'll eat your topcoat and then bite a cobra's head off.

Sorry, got a bit carried away there.  But seriously, if you haven't seen the honey badger video, go watch it now.  CrowsToes polish is currently in stock on Llarowe, and follow The Polished Crow's blog for updates.

I hate how much top coat this one needs, but the final result is worth it.  Seriously, how amazing is that black glitter with glints of blue and purple?  :)

Indie January: Candeo Colors Orchid

**This is a scheduled post, as I'm out of town for a dance convention.  Where I can't wear nail polish.  Sad Emma. **

Today's Indie January post is a special one, it features one of my first-ever indie polishes!  Candeo Colors Orchid was one of my first lemmings when I started to get into polish, and I was SO excited when I snagged this in a restock on Llarowe; it was such an adrenaline rush!  :P

I blogged about this polish when I got it and have not worn it nearly as much as I should have since, so I figured I'd enjoy wearing it again and show you all in better photos, haha!

I wore two coats of Orchid over Butter London Queen Vic.  It's goopy and a little hard to work with, but completely worth the effort!!  Bonus, only one coat of Seche Vite!

Candeo Colors polishes are available through Llarowe and the Candeo Colors website; keep up to date on Facebook

Isn't the combination of shimmer and iridescent/holographic glitter in there just stunning?  Admit it, I'm not the only one who gets hyped up buying polish.  What was your first lemming that you triumphantly crushed?  :)

Indie January: CrowsToes Morticia

Hooray, it's Friday!!  I wanted to let you all know that the Indie January posts from today to Monday will be scheduled, as I'm out of town for a dance convention.  Where I can't wear nail polish.  Sad Emma.

Anoywho, Day 25's polish is CrowsToes Morticia, a mix of red, black, and gunmetal glitters in a clear base.  I've layered it over two polishes for different looks, so keep reading!  :)

The first combination (which was actually the second I did, but whatever) is one coat of Morticia over Essie Macks.  This polish is packed to the brim with glitter and is therefore super goopy, so I applied it how I described in this post.  Two coats of Seche Vite, though I'd recommend one more for a completely smooth finish.

I obviously liked this combination the best of the two (scroll down and you'll see why...)   I think that the mix of glitters worked really well with the rich red base.

Below, I've layered one coat of Morticia over Orly Decoded.  Yea, this one just... isn't working for me.  At all.

CrowsToes polish is currently in stock on Llarowe, and follow The Polished Crow's blog for updates.

Are you like me and prefer the glitter with the red base?  Or do you like the grey or something completely different? I won't judge, promise.  ;)

Indie January: Candeo Colors Sweet Sierra

Today's post will be a short one, I'm going out of town to a dance convention this weekend and need to write up four Indie January posts for the days that I'm gone!  (Probably should have done that sooner, but...)

Anywho, today's polish is Candeo Colors Sweet Sierra, a clear base packed with purple matte hexes and squares, small purple and holo hexes, medium pink hexes, and small iridescent hexes.

I layered one easy coat of Sweet Sierra over Zoya Savita, which I think is the perfect undies.  The pink-toned purple base along with stunning pink shimmer in Savita complimented the pink and purple glitter in Sweet Sierra very nicely.  Two coats of Seche Vite for a smooth finish.

I wasn't sure of this one in the bottle because I'm not really a fan of pink and purple together (though I like them separately) but the purple definitely dominates in this polish!

Candeo Colors polishes are available through Llarowe and the Candeo Colors website; keep up to date on Facebook

This glitter topper is super sparkly, a must-have for pink and purple glitter lovers!  What do you think?  Will you be picking this one up?  :)

Indie January: Girly Bits Eight Crazy Nights

It's Day 23 of Indie January, and today's polish is another stunning glitter topper from Girly Bits!  Eight Crazy Nights is a clear base full of blue, silver, holographic, and white satin glitters.

I layered one coat of Eight Crazy Nights over A England Jane Eyre.  The formula on this was perfect, no extra work required and I only used one coat of Seche Vite for a smooth finish! Win!  :)

Over a dark colour, this polish looks like a sparkling night sky!  The mix of different shapes and colours of glitter all come together very nicely, I love it!

If you like Eight Crazy Nights, hurry on over to Llarowe because full-sized bottles are on sale for only $5!!  Girly Bits is available on LlaroweGirly Bits BigCartel shop, and Etsy.  Like on Facebook, and follow Pam's blog and Instagram! (@girlybitscosmetics)

How do you like this glitter topper?  Will you be picking it up on sale?  Do you like it layered over a dark colour, or would you wear it over a blue polish or something completely different?

Have a good Wednesday!  :)

Indie January: Daring Digits Love Dragon

It's Day 22 of Indie January, and today's polish is Daring Digits Love Dragon, a sheer colour-shifting polish that flashes purple, pink, and copper.  I had ordered the set of Harry Potter polishes from Daring Digits for my sister for Christmas, and I was so excited when I opened the package and found this extra polish in there too!

Since Love Dragon is meant to be an effect topper, I layered one perfect coat of it over OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest, and finished with one coat of Seche Vite.

You can see the pink/purple shift in the photos, but I was having some trouble capturing the copper since it only showed at extreme angles (like the green flashes in Fantasy Fire).

I wore this in the middle of a long glitter-only streak a week or two ago, so the colour-shifting shimmer was a lovely change!

You can find Daring Digits on Etsy, their website, Facebook, and Tumblr

I mentioned at the beginning of the post that I got my sister the Daring Digits Harry Potter polish set for Christmas, and she has kindly (slightly begrudgingly) agreed to let me swatch them, so I'll have those on here soon too!  Love Dragon is a really beautiful polish, and I really enjoyed wearing it.  Thank you so much to Ashley for including this extra polish!  :)

Indie January: ILNP Fully Turqued

Can I get an unenthusiastic hooray for Monday??  It's Day 21 of Indie January, and today I've got one more glitter topper from I <3 Nail Polish to show you, Fully Turqued.  You can see my two previous posts on I<3NP here:  All Gold Everything, and Once Upon A Starry Night.

Fully Turqued is a clear base packed with black and white matte bars and hexes, and turquoise squares.  I used one dabbed coat over Orly Decoded, with two coats of Seche Vite.  (Eww, the bad bubbles are the fault of my SV with this one!)  The formula was what I've come to expect from chunkier glitter toppers, it needed a little pushing around and fiddling to get an even spread, but not too much trouble.

I really like how all the nails are unique, but they still have a very uniform look overall.  The different glitters in this blend well together.  I love how the shapes of the black and white glitters are all the same, while the turquoise glitters are also all the same shape; I think it really helps define the different glitters. Does that make any sense? Haha!  I'm wearing this polish right now, and when I'm holding this at arm's length, it looks almost like a splatter mani!

I<3NP is currently available through Etsy, and like the Facebook page for updates!

You may have noticed that my nails are a bit shorter... I was in a bad mood last night, and I started filing and just kept going... I guess it's somewhat of a stress reliever, haha!  I really like them this length though, it's not a huge change but it's nice!

Overall, this is a really cute and fun glitter topper that I think would look good over a lot of different polishes!  What do you think?  Any layering combinations you'd like to see?  :)

Indie January: Candeo Colors Skaul

I can't believe it's already Day 20 of Indie January!  Today's polish is yet another from the Candeo Colors Aruba Collection, Skaul.  You can see my posts on the other polishes in this collection here:  Divi Divi, Shelu Blou, Laman Brisa.

All of the names in this collection are in Papiamento, and Skaul means storm.  It is described as an ink-coloured base with strong shimmer that flashes pink, purple, and blue.  The formula was easy to work with, and you're seeing two coats here with one coat of Seche Vite.

I really love the shimmer in this one; as with the rest of the Aruba Collection, it's very prominent and visible in any lighting!  It's constantly flashing pink, purple, and blue, which keeps it from ever looking too dark or completely black.

Formula was perfection, though I'm pretty sure it dried to a satin finish so you'll need a coat of top coat if you want a high-gloss finish.   Overall, this one is definitely a win!

The Candeo Colors Aruba Collection and other polishes are available through Llarowe and the Candeo Colors website; keep up to date on Facebook

What do you think of this polish?  Do you like dark bases with strong shimmers?  Of the polishes that I've shown you from the Aruba Collection, which is your favourite?  :)

Indie January: CrowsToes Absolum - Your Potions Master

For Day 18 of Indie January, I've got a fabulous glitterbomb to  blind you with!  CrowsToes Absolum - Your Potions Master is a mix of blue, green, orange and black glitters in a clear base, with a little extra sparkle added.  I've layered it over two polishes, so you can get a better idea of it's versatility!

The first combination I used was one coat of Absolum over two coats of A England Jane Eyre.  Two coats of Seche Vite for a smooth finish.  This polish is super packed with glitter, so I applied it like I described in this post

I really love how the different colours of glitter all pop over the dark base, it was quite stunning!

I also layered Absolum over A England Saint George for a different look.  Two coats of Seche Vite.

This combination gives off a completely different look, which is more subdued and just overall glittery.  The slight holo base of Saint George was a nice compliment to the glitter, and the teal base blended nicely.

Of course, I'm partial to this polish because of the name.  Absolum, as far as I know, is the caterpillar in Alice In Wonderland, and in Tim Burton's recent version is voiced by Alan Rickman.  This actor is, of course, known primarily (by my generation) as Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies.  One of his most famous lines in The Philosopher's Stone is "I am Snape, your potions master."  Polish naming win.

CrowsToes polish is currently in stock on Llarowe, and follow The Polished Crow's blog for updates.

How do you like this polish?  What is your favourite layering combination of these two?  Or if you own this polish, what do you like to layer it over?  :)

Indie January: Nubzen Claus Part 2

Day 18 of Indie January is a double feature!  You may remember last month that I showed you two polishes from Nubzen Claus, and today I have two more.  Take a look!

Ladies' Night is a magenta jelly base packed with orange, pink, and purple hex glitters and sprinkled with coarse holo glitter.  This polish is pretty sheer, so I layered two coats of Ladies' Night over OPI Casino Royale.  Two coats of Seche Vite for a smooth finish.

Application was easy, no troubles there.  This is a beautiful polish, it's super sparkly and would be very appropriate for a ladies' night!  :)

Unicorn Drool is a white jelly with fine pink/purple shimmer in the base, which is sprinkled with rainbow shards.

The base in this one can be problematic; if you try to use it alone (like I did twice before finally giving up) the base is goopy but super sheer, and the four coats needed for opacity take forever to dry.  However, for these pictures I layered two thin coats of Unicorn Drool over OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and the formula was much more manageable when layering!  I was glad to find that none of the shards poked out with only one coat of Seche Vite, WIN!

Why is it that the nail polish community is so obsessed with naming polishes after gross things that come out of unicorns?  (Unicorn Pee, Unicorn Poop, Unicorn Drool, Unicorn Farts, Unicorn Barf... The list goes on.)  I suppose the theory may be that whatever it is, because it comes out of a unicorn it must be awesome.

You can find Nubzen Claus Nail Pretties on Etsy here, and on the Nubzen Claus website.   For updates, check out the Nubzen Claus Facebook page and Twitter

My favourite of these two is probably Ladies' Night, because I absolutely love that magenta base packed with sparkle!  Which is your favourite?  :)
