LVX Mynt & OPI My Favourite Ornament

I purchased both of these polishes pretty recently, and when I saw them sitting next to each other on my desk I knew they'd make a good pair!

LVX Mynt is a beautiful light vibrant mint creme, with full coverage in three thin coats.  (Two thicker coats would probably do the trick too.)  This was my first LVX polish, and I was really impressed with the formula!  I found a ton of LVX polishes at Winners for $6 each a few weeks ago and picked up three, so you'll be seeing the other two around here eventually as well.

OPI My Favourite Ornament is a full-coverage gold micro-flakie; I used three thin coats for opacity here too.  This one isn't advertised as a Liquid Sand, but it does dry to a textured finish so I chose to leave it without top coat.  I think you'd need at least two coats of a thick top coat to smooth it out.  I really love the lighter gold colour, it's so flattering!

I'm really happy with both of these recent purchases, and they look so cute together!!  This mani definitely helped get me in the mood for some more spring-hued looks, despite the gross weather.  What do you think?  :)

Jinx, Sunshine!

Apologies for the week-long break - I've been out of town since last Tuesday on tour with the ballet company performing in Giselle!  I didn't have the time (or foresight) to do up enough posts to schedule through the week, oops... We've still got more shows this weekend, but those are here in town so I should hopefully be able to post a little bit.

This is a mani I did a few days before I left, when I was in need of something quick and fun.  I used two coats of OPI Jinx on my middle and ring fingers, and I my index and pinky have got one coat each of the amazing Zoya Sunshine.  No top coat obviously, to not ruin the textured finish.

These colours together did end up looking a little sports-team-like together (my dad was very proud of my accidental Denver Broncos nails) but blue and orange are complimentary colours, so it made for a fun, bold look!  What do you think?

Here's hoping the rest of the shows go well this weekend.  I get to go home to my family on Sunday as well for spring break, so it's an exciting week coming up!  :)

Standing Here Waiting for my Dancing Queen

I hate making titles.  Seriously, my least favourite part of blogging.  Anywho, today's post features two indies I haven't worn in a while: Aphrodite Lacquers Standing Here Waiting and WingDustCollections Dancing Queen

I started off with a base of OPI Eurso Euro, before layering on two thin coats of Aphrodite Lacquers Standing Here Waiting.  This one is so packed with glitter!  On top of that I added one very sparse coat of WingDustCollections Dancing Queen, for a bit of holographic sparkle.  I purposely did just a very thin coat of this polish here - to see its full sparkle power, check this out

One coat of Seche Vite to smooth it all out, of course.  What do you think of this look?  Recently I've really been enjoying pulling out my older polishes that haven't seen much but the inside of my helmer since swatching, and I love finding old favourites like these two!  :)

Merino Cool & Pirouette My Whistle

Good morning!  Who's looking forward to the weekend ahead?  I definitely am!  Today I've got a simple layering combination that I wore yesterday to share with you.

This is two coats of Essie Merino Cool, followed by one thick coat of OPI Pirouette My Whistle and topped with Seche Vite.  I really love both of these polishes alone, and though they make a slightly odd combination, I do like it!

What do you think of these two polishes together?  :)  Leave a comment!

Your Potions Master

Good morning!  Today's look is a simple double-accent manicure I did a while back, featuring Crows Toes Absolum - Your Potions Master.

I started with a base of LaCC 1999, two perfect coats for opacity.  My accent nails are topped with one dabbed coat of Absolum - Your Potions Master.  For my other two nails, I picked individual glitters out of the bottle and placed them on the nail.  The whole thing is smoothed out with a coat of Seche Vite, followed by a coat Essie Matte About You.

I really enjoy wearing Crows Toes glitters matte - you can really see all the individual glitters that go into these complex polishes!

Incidentally, this mani ended up perfectly matching both of my Agent P phone cases!  Yes, I am the cool kind of 18-year-old girl who has two different Perry the Platypus phone cases.  Unfortunately though, I only got photos of my mani with the one I was using at the time.  I love it!!  :)

Pikachu

Two of my guy friends have been (separately) bugging me to do Pokemon nails... I had plans to do some elaborate thing with a different started Pokemon on each nail, but when I finally had time to do some nail art I was feeling a little lazy, so this is what I ended up with and I'm super happy with it!

As I was scouring the internet for simple(ish) Pokemon nail art ideas, I came upon this design which I thought was adorable!  The original photo has no watermark, so if anyone knows whose photo it is, please let me know so I can give credit.

The base is two coats of Barry M Watermelon, which I absolutely adore.  I painted everything else
freehand with acrylic paints and topped it off with two coats of Seche Vite.

I've never really gotten into Pokemon (shhhh...) but I have a few friends who have the new Pokemon X and/or Y and they look pretty fun, so I might pick one of those up sometime soon.  Either way, I still loved having the adorable Pikachu on my nails!  :)
