QUO by Orly: Summer 2014 Collection

You may remember back in April I shared the QUO by Orly Spring 2014 polishes, which was my first experience with the brand and I was very impressed.  Today I've got three of the the Summer 2014 polishes to share with you and, spoilers, these are amazing!

Read on for the full review.

The formula on all of these were easy to work with, only Electrified was a little on the thick side, but still not any issue.  The brushes are a bit odd in that they appear to be super uneven at the ends, but it somehow makes application completely effortless, with almost no clean up required!  Definitely a pleasant surprise!  All of these also dry surprisingly quickly, (my left hand was dry to the touch by the time I'd finished painting my right hand!) All of these appear to have some neon pigment in them, and therefore need a top coat to be completely shiny.  For all of the swatches I used three thin coats, but two would definitely be enough for just wearing out, especially if you've got shorter nails.

Electrified is a bright neon that leans towards either orange or yellow, depending on the lighting.  Three thin coats with one coat of LaCC 2013 top coat here.   I've photographed this in indirect natural lighting, as that's how I managed to get the most colour-accurate photos without my camera freaking out at me.

Heatwave is a bright neon orange with an awesome golden shimmer.  Again, three thin coats with LaCC 2013 top coat, but two would have been enough.  Despite the same lighting conditions as the previous swatch (indirect natural lighting) I couldn't get this one to photograph quite accurately; in real life it was a slightly lighter and less red-toned shade of orange, and a bit more vibrant and neon.

Simmered is an amazingly bright almost-neon purple with a golden shimmer.  Three perfect thin coats, but I left this one without top coat as it actually dried pretty shiny by itself.  This is photographed under my normal direct artificial lighting conditions, and it's pretty colour-accurate; it's just missing the same vibrancy it has in person.

Though I don't have them for comparison, these three look like exact duplicates for the Orly Summer 2014 Baked Collection.  Electrified looks like Tropical Pop, Heatwave looks like Ablaze, and Simmered looks like Hot Tropics.  If you've already got those then you can probably pass on these ones, however if you're in Canada like me with a Shopper's Drug Mart nearby and nowhere near that sells Orly, then these are great.

Simmered is my favourite of the three alone, because purple is my favourite colour and yellows and oranges don't tend to look the best on my skin tone.  However, the others are some pretty awesome neons and I can definitely see myself using them in some bright summery nail art!

Quo by Orly Spring 2014 Collection, $10 each.  Available at Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix for a limited time only.  Quo by Orly polishes are free of DBP, formaldehyde, and toluene.
