Indie January: ILNP Once Upon A Starry Night

It's day 17 of Indie January, and today's polish is another beauty from I <3 Nail Polish, Once Upon A Starry Night.  You can see my previous post on I<3NP here

Once Upon A Starry Night is a glitter topper full of blue, silver, and white glitters in various shapes and sizes, along with silver holographic stars.  I layered one coat plus spot-filling over Butter London Big Smoke.  This is with three coats of Seche Vite, this glitter was a hungry one!

Formula on this one gave me quite a bit of trouble, after such a great experience with All Gold Everything I was a little disappointed.  I had to dab a lot and the glitters wanted to clump together, and by the time I was done I had so much clear base on my nails that it took forever to dry.  However, the end result is beautiful so I think I', willing to put in the extra effort in application. Also, same problem with the awful smell as I had with the previous polish.  Oddly enough, it actually bothered me more this time around.

I really like the look of this glitter, it's gorgeous over the dark blue!  It's super sparkly in person, which unfortunately kind of freaked my camera out; just trust me that it's gorgeous glittery goodness!

I<3NP is currently available through Etsy, and like the Facebook page for updates!

I've got one more polish from I<3NP to show you this month, and that one will probably be up sometime next week.  What do you think of this glitter topper?  Are you willing to put in the extra effort in application for a beautiful glitter? :)

Indie January: KBShimmer Oh Splat!

Day 16 of Indie January; I've made it past the half-way point!  Today's polish is KBShimmer Oh Splat!, a super fun mix of multicoloured hex glitters in a white jelly base.  Take a look!

For these photos I've used three easily-applied coats of Oh Splat!, and topped with two coats of Seche Vite for a smooth finish.  Two coats applied carefully would have been enough for opaqueness in person, but I added one more coat to account for  my super-visible nail line and the camera.

I think that this is a really cute and fun mix of glitter, and is a great way to wear rainbow glitter if you're not a fan of the super-blingy look.  I'm wearing this right now, and it's a nice refreshing change from all the dark colours I've been wearing lately.  To me it looks like rainbow bits birthday cake, and I kind of want to eat it... Tehehe :)

You can find KBShimmer on the KBShimmer website and Etsy store; they're also available internationally through Harlow & Co. and you can like the Facebook page for updates!  :)

I'll definitely be pulling this one out again in the spring, though the weather here isn't looking up any time soon.  How do you like this polish?  Are you a fan of rainbow glitters in jelly bases?  Leave a comment! :)

Indie January: Candeo Colors Voodoo

Today's Indie January polish is yet another stunner from Candeo Colors, Voodoo.  This glitter topper is a clear base with small and medium gunmetal hexes, medium gold hexes, and small and large matte purple hexes.

I've had this bottle sitting on my desk for a while, and was never quite sure what to layer it over.  On Sunday I was just wearing two coats of OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest when I felt it needed a little sprucing up, so I decided to layer Voodoo on top and I love the combination!

The formula on Voodoo was pretty easy to work with, I just brushed over the nail a few times to evenly distribute the glitter, along with a little spot-filling here and there.  Two coats of Seche Vite for a smooth finish.

I'm really happy with this layering combination; I think that the colours play off each other very well!  I like the ratio of base to glitter in Voodoo, it lets just enough of the base colour shine through while helping the glitters pop off of it!  And those matte purple hexes?  LOVE!

Candeo Colors polishes are available through Llarowe and the Candeo Colors website; keep up to date on Facebook

Opinions on this polish?  Do you like my layering combination?  If not, what would you have layered it over? Are there any other layering combinations you'd like to see me do with this?  :)

Indie January: Hare Polish Bury The Hatchetfish

It's Day 14 of Indie January, and I hope you're all having a good start to your week!  Today's polish is yet another brand I'd never before tried, Hare Polish.  Bury The Hatchetfish is from the Fall 2012 Illuminated Life Collection, and is a light taupe jelly base with iridescent blue glass flecks and hexes.

Here is two coats of Bury The Hatchetfish over one coat of Essie Merino Cool.  It can reach opacity by itself in three coats, but since it's kind of goopy, three coats got quite thick on the nail.  It also dries bumpy because the base sinks as it dries, so this is with three coats of Seche Vite.

My camera doesn't like iridescent polishes, but I certainly do!  The jelly base of Bury The Hatchetfish matched perfectly with Merino Cool, and I always love those grey/purple/taupe/mauve colours, whatever you call them, haha! :P  This polish really glowed; it's such a unique combination and it works so well!

The Hare Polish Etsy shop isn't currently stocked, but they're available through Llarowe!  Follow the blog, and like the Facebook page for updates!

Have you been able to get your hands on any Hare Polishes?  What do you think of this polish?  Do you like the unusual combination of taupe and iridescent glitters?  :)

Indie January: NailNation3000 Eve #403

Day 13 of Indie January, and today's polish is NailNation 3000 Eve #403.  This polish is a denim blue linear holographic polish with chunkier scattered holo throughout.  Take a look!

This is two coats of Eve #403, and it applied like butter!  I used no base coat, but had to use a top coat for a smooth finish because the chunkier scattered holo dried pretty gritty.  I'm not a huge fan of holographic polishes, but I really enjoyed wearing this!

Boy, you should have heard my dad talk about this one!  Normally the most involved he gets with my polish craziness is me shoving my nails in front of his face saying "LOOK! LOOK!" which is followed by him squinting his eyes and saying "Lovely!" because he likes to pretend that he can see close-up without his reading glasses.  But this one... he came over and held my hand under the light, moving it around and looking at the sparkle for a minute before beginning a beautiful speech.

"I like how there's a more fine rainbow sparkle throughout, and then there's more prominent glitters that catch the light at certain angles.  It's much prettier than all those big glitters you have.  Nice blue, too!"  He's a chartered accountant.  I was so proud of him.  <3 Haha!

You may recognize this polish from a few weeks ago when I used it as a base for some awesome freehand snowflake nail art.  Click here to see the post

Indie January: Candeo Colors Divi Divi

Day 12's polish is quite unique, I'm interested to see what you all think of it!  This polish is from the Candeo Colors Aruba Collection, and the names of all the polishes are in Papiamento; Divi Divi is named after the divi tree, which is native to Aruba.  I've already shown two other polishes from this collection, Shelu Blou and Laman Brisa, so take a peek at those if you haven't already!

Candeo Colors Divi Divi is a brown crelly base packed with brown and gold microglitter and gold/green colour-shifting shimmer.  I used three coats for opacity, along with one coat of Seche Vite since it dries to a satin finish.  Formula was a little thick, a couple drops of thinner made it much more workable!

It's quite the interesting mix of colours, isn't it?  My first thought when I saw this in the bottle was "This'll probably look like poop." (Makes me sound intelligent, right?)  But honestly, the brown/green colour combination had me a little worried.

When I see this polish in the photos I'm not quite sold on it, but I remember being pleasantly surprised when I put it on!  The certain tone of brown was quite flattering, and the shimmer added a nice glow!

I can honestly say that I had no clue that Candeo made any shimmer polishes until I received these to swatch.  Apparently I'm not the only one who didn't know they existed; when you google this collection, the only swatches that come up are mine and those done by The Nail Polish Project.  In any case, this collection is severely underrated, all of them are stunning!  I have a couple more to post throughout the month, so keep an eye out!

The Candeo Colors Aruba Collection and other polishes are available through Llarowe and the Candeo Colors website; keep up to date on Facebook

Now, honestly tell me what you think of this polish, inquiring minds want to know!  Beautiful unique polish, or shimmery poop?  :P

Indie January: ILNP All Gold Everything

Indie January Day 11!  I've just about survived my first week back at school and dance after Christmas break... Then again, it wasn't really much of a break since I had to go in and do extra classes to learn the syllabus for my RAD Solo Seal exam that I'm doing in March.

That aside, today's polish is from yet another new-to-me indie brand, I Love Nail Polish.  At least my nails can look pretty while the rest of me is sore from some intense conditioning classes this week.  -_-

I<3NP All Gold Everything is from the brand's New Year's Collection; it's a clear-based glitter topper packed with different kinds of gold glitters, and a few gold flakies!  I chose to layer this stunner over Essie Stylenomics, which I just picked up the other day at Winners for half-price.  (I know, late to the party.)

Application on this polish was fabulous, the glitter spread perfectly with no extra work!  My only complaint about this polish is that it smelled weird.  Not like strong nail polish smell, something different.  It wasn't very pleasant while I was painting; however, I'm willing to get past that because it's such a gorgeous polish!

The blackened green base of Stylenomics really complemented the gold glitter; the whole mani had a very luxurious look to it!   I'm sure you've all seen pictures of the I<3NP packaging, Barbra goes so far above and beyond with her bottles and boxes!  Unfortunately I don't have the right lighting setup to take bottle/box pictures.  Boo.  Cue another me-holding-the-bottle shot.

I think these bottles are the best things ever!  The logo and labels are adorable, and rubberized caps make everything better.  My friend came over to borrow some nail polish and I was literally shoving these in her face saying "Look! Aren't these so cute?! No, you can't borrow that one, I haven't swatched it yet! What if your dog eats it? What? Of course I trust you!"

Sorry, got a little carried away there, (love you, Michaela!)  I<3NP is currently available through Etsy, and like the facebook page for updates!

I've got two more polishes from I<3NP to show you sometime this month and they're both gorgeous, so keep an eye out for those!   Gee, this has been a very wordy post.  Do I need to ask questions at the end of posts or will you comment anyways?  ;)
