LaCC Fall/Winter 2013 Nail Art: Leopard & Half-Moons

Good morning!  Today I've got yet another nail art look to share that features a few polishes from the LaCC Fall/Winter 2013 Collection.

This look actually uses the exact same four polishes as the striped nail art I shared the other day... I can't help it, these colours just go together so well!

My double-accent leopard print nails started with a base of 1988 (taupe).  The salmon-coloured centers were dotted on with 1981, and then outlined in 1998 (dark brown).  The half-moon nails are two coats of 1941 (red) followed by freehanded half-moons in 1981 (salmon-nude).  All nails are topped off with two coats of LaCC 2013 top coat.

All of these polishes are part of the LaCC Fall/Winter 2013 Collection, which is now available to purchase through the LaCC website, as well as through many online retailers and stores which are listed here.

I really like how this nail art came together - the combination of neutral leopard print and half-moons had such a classy look to it!!  What do you think?  :)

Neutral Skittlette

Good morning!  It's awfully nice that it's only the second day of classes this week, but it's already Wednesday - I love long weekends!  Today's post is a double-accent mani that I really loved wearing.  I had picked out Contrary Polish Sand (from the Ain't That A Beach trio released earlier this year) because I hadn't worn it since I first swatched it, and this look kind of fell together around it!

On my index finger, I started with two easy coats of Contrary Polish Sand and a coat of Seche Vite; when that was dry, I taped off the stripes and painted over it with Essie Little Brown Dress.  On my thumb (seen below) I did the same, but switched up the base for OPI My Vampire Is Buff.

For my double-accent nails, I started with two coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff; I then drew on irregular spots using Contrary Polish Sand and went around them with Essie Little Brown Dress for a leopard-print design.  My pinky is two coats of OPI Liquid Sand shade What Wizardry Is This?.

Quick question for my readers!  I've got swatches of the whole Contrary Polish Ain't That A Beach trio sitting around on my computer... I know this trio is old news now, but would anyone be interested in seeing them?  Let me know!  :)

I'm really happy with how this turned out - it's neutral and cohesive, but still super fun!!  I'm also glad that I got to wear Contrary Polish Sand again, although this just reminded me how gorgeous it really is, and I really should wear it alone soon.  What do you think?  :)

Snow Leopard

I have this awesome friend named Michaela, and she's probably the most crafty and creative person I'll ever have the pleasure of knowing.  She likes doing her nails too and we often talk nail polish, so I was super excited when she decided to get the Bundle Monster 2011 stamping plates.  I have the 2012 set, so last week we got together and borrowed some of each other's plates!

One of the plates I borrowed was BM-221, specially for this leopard print pattern.  I had just recently done a leopard-print mani and wanted this one to look different, so I used my newly-acquired OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (LOVE) and stamped with Konad black polish.

My Boyfriend Scales Walls is seriously the most perfect white ever.  For all intents and purposes it serves as a white polish, but it's heaps more flattering than most which look like white-out.  It also wears really well, these pictures were taken after three days of wear and I only had one small chip on my right hand!

Last weekend we got the first dump of snow on the mountains, so these nails felt appropriate.  I'm really happy with how they turned out, and wouldn't be surprised if I re-created them a couple more times before winter is over!  Also, don't forget to like the new Globe & Nail Facebook page!

What do you think of this?  Do you like this different winter leopard print look?  :)

Autumn Leopard

I've been wanting to do something fall-appropriate in orange and gold for a while, but when I sat down with my chosen polishes I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.  After trying out a couple different things (and re-doing some nails multiple times) I was getting pretty tired and didn't want anything more to do with tape or tiny brushes, and I ended up with this.

I've never done a full-on leopard print manicure before, but I'm really happy with how it turned out.  And best of all, it was super easy thanks to this tutorial by Sarah at Chalkboard Nails!

My base colour is Essie Meet Me At Sunset, the gold is Essie Good As Gold, and the black is Sally Hansen Black Out.  I'm really happy with my colour choice; I think they look great together and make for a very unnatural-looking yet fall-appropriate leopard print!

Do you love leopard print manicures?  How about unnatural leopard print?  Or do you think the full-on animal print combined with the unnatural colours is just too much?  Let me know in the comments  :)
